Parchisi Strategy: How to Win at Parchís Online

Parchisi (Parchís) gives you two dice and four pawns, so almost every turn is a real decision. These tips follow Gamzuno's rules: a 5 to leave the nest, blockades with two pawns, +20 for a capture, +10 for each pawn home, and a penalty for a third double in a row.

Split the dice — or don't

Each die can move a different pawn. Splitting lets you make two useful moves (one safe, one attacking); using both on one pawn lets you jump a long way to escape or to capture. Before moving, check both options for every pawn — the best move is often the one you didn't see first.

Use the +20 capture bonus

Capturing a lone pawn sends it back to its nest and gives you a +20 move. Twenty squares is a lot: it can carry a pawn from danger to safety or deep into your home path. Look for captures where the bonus move does something useful too.

Build blockades at the right moment

Two of your pawns on one square form a blockade nobody can pass. A blockade just in front of an opponent's pawns can freeze their whole game — but it also freezes your two pawns. Hold it while it hurts them, then open it when you need the moves.

Respect safety squares

Pawns on ★ safety squares can't be captured, and two different colours can't share one. When you can't attack, park pawns on safety squares and let your opponent come to you.

Be careful with doubles

Doubles give you another roll, but a third doubles in a row sends your most advanced pawn on the track back to its nest. After two doubles, a pawn already on the home path is protected — another reason to get pawns there early.

Get pawns home, then use the +10

Pawns reach home by exact count, and each one home gives you a +10 move. Plan the last squares so the exact roll is likely, and use the +10 to push another pawn forward or out of danger.

Questions

How do you get a pawn out in Parchisi?

Roll a 5 on one die, or two dice that add up to 5. A 5+5 brings out two pawns at once.

What happens when you capture a pawn?

The captured pawn goes back to its nest and you get a +20 bonus move for one pawn.

Can pawns pass a blockade?

No. Two pawns of the same colour on one square block it: no pawn can pass or land there.
